Freeway National Artist Collectors Series Honoring Vicente Manansala

After paying tribute to National Artists Nick Joaquin (Literature), Ang Kiukok (Visual Arts), Jose Garcia Villa (Literature) and Ramon Valera (Fashion Design), and  F. Sionil José (Literature). Freeway is excited because Philippine Fashion meets Art again this Holiday season as fashionalistic brand Freeway combines the best of both worlds with the latest installment of the most-loved National Artist Collectors’ Series. This Holiday 2011 collection features the works of Vicente Manansala, National Artist for Visual Arts. This is the 6th installment of the series which was creatively originated in 2009.

Vicente Manansala, our beloved well known Philippine cubist painter and illustrator, reinterpreted or indigenized cubism as he drew his themes from the familiar Filipino environment. Some of his masterpieces are Madonna of the Slums, a portrayal of mother and child from the countryside who became urban shanty residents once in the city; and Jeepneys where Manansala combined the elements of provincial folk culture with the congestion issues of the city. Manansala was proclaimed National Artist for Painting in 1982.
This creative fusion of fashion and art is reinstated to a lavishly beautiful 22 piece collection including classic and modern tailored dresses, woven shirt tops, sublimation print graphic tees and dresses, Manansala watch, tote bags and accessories. Get royally ready to get your Freeway x Manansala fashion fix this! The collection will officially hit the stores on October 21.

All items will have their own gift packaging and a swing tag of Manansala’s bio. View the entire collection here.

Freeway 's National Artist Collectors’ Series Fall 2011 Collection

Philippine Independence Day is near, but still fashion makes their way in time that we celebrate our freedom and recalls our greatest hero. So as Filipino how can you show your love for the country without sacrificing your style? That is not a problem anymore because for two years in a row, FREEWAY has gained immense recognition for being a creative innovator with its National Artist Collectors’ Series which started in 2009.  Gone are the days where only casual wear are available to show one’s pride and culture.  With Freeway’s culturally intelligent collections, fashion forward Filipinos can now wear Fashionalism not just on weekends, but also for work and special occasions. Freeway re-introduces today’s youth with our renowned Philippine National Artists as it merges Filipino culture with current Philippine Fashion.

After paying tribute to National Artists Nick Joaquin (Literature), Ang Kiukok (Visual Arts), Jose Garcia Villa (Literature) and Ramon Valera (Fashion Design), Freeway is excited to feature its first living National Artist in the Series.  And last May 31, 2011, Freeway launches the National Artist Collectors’ Series Fall 2011 Collection featuring the works of National Artist for Literature F. Sionil José.

Francisco Sionil José (F. Sionil José) is one of the most widely-read Filipino writers whose work is now translated into 28 languages including his native Ilocano.  His novels and short stories depict the social underpinnings of class struggles and colonialism in Filipino society.

The entire collection was viewed for the first time on the same night, extending a special discount to guests only for that evening. The collection will be available in all stores by June 1, 2011. Freeway features some of Sionil José’s well known works as interpreted in a pocket collection which includes staple favorites graphic tees in trendy silhouettes, modern tailored woven tops and dresses and accessories.  All items have a printed seal, a bio-swing tag and packaged in the signature National Artist Collectors Series envelope.

Here a little information about Freeway: In 1997, Freeway opened its first branch in Robinson’s Galleria, giving the metropolis its much needed fashion fix. Freeway is one of the very few local brands that offer merchandise representing the most current international trends at local prices. Freeway provides contemporary trends that tickle every fashionista’s whim. It’s flattering, sexy and appealing. It can be bold and daring, while still possessing femininity. It is for the fun-loving trendsetters who dare to be different and who love to stand-out in the crowd. The young cosmopolitan market can finally express themselves through fashion without burning a hole in their pockets.
