Just last Valentine's Week, the Philippine Fashion brands Freeway, Ensembles & Solo have their VALENTINE'S SPECIAL. And now I'm excited to share that Freeway and Solo will be celebrating National Arts Month this February, that is why Freeway's Sionil Jose , Manansala Collections and Solo's Kenkoy Collection will be on sale from February 23 to 26, 2012 (Thursday to Sunday).

Solo Online Model Search 2011 is Extended

Here's a great news about Philippine Fashion guys, the search for the next faces of Solo for 2012 is EXTENDED due to popular request! Submission of entries is extended until November 30 and Voting ends on December 2. Solo Online Model Search gets bigger on its 3rd year as Solo celebrates and relive the greatest and most-loved comic character of all time KENKOY created by the Father of Philippine Cartoon Tony Velasquez.

After successfully launching Jaggy Tallada and Jhonna Flor as 2010’s grand winners and Mehran Khaledi and Phoebe Rutaquio as 2011's grand winners, we are now on search for two new faces of Solo to be officially unveiled in 2012.

You may be the next face of Solo by submitting your creative photo entries or by taking part by supporting and voting for your fave entries! Entries will be judged according to the following criteria: 30% Voter’s Choice and 70% Solo’s Choice (40% for Being Photogenic, 20% for Creativity and Styling and 10% Layout) for a total of 100%. The highest scorers: 10 Male Photo Entries and 10 Female Photo Entries will be the finalists. The top 20 finalists will have a go-see and interview with the judges. Cash Prizes and gift certificates await the grand winners for Best Male and Best Female Photo Entries, as well as their partner Graphic Artist/Photographer. There are also prizes for the lucky voters so keep your votes coming in and you might win Solo shopping GCs!

SOLO Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilla feat. Tony Velasquez' Kenkoy

Talking about simple appreciation in nationalism, let’s talk about Pinoy Komiks. I’m sure when you heard that term Kenkoy comes in your mind. Just like you, I’ve seen Kenkoy before in Pinoy Komiks, I also watched him in a movie adaptation performed by Chiquito and Janno Gibbs. He was created by Antonio "Tony" Velasquez, the Father of Philippine Cartoons and is considered as Philippines’ first true pop icon and a ludicrous portrait of the Filipino. So how can you combine nationalism and fashion? I have shared before the Freeway National Artist Collectors Series now I am sharing you guys the latest in Philippine Fashion it is Clothing Collection of Solo the Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia.

It was last year when Solo launched its first Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia that featured Larry Alcala’s Slice of Life. It is refreshing to see how Alcala’s Pinoy Cartoons are being celebrated and re-introduced to today’s youth as part of Filipino pop culture. But this year Solo featured Tony Velasquez’ Kenkoy also this is the SOLO’s 2nd installment of Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia.

 

In Fashion there is no old and new, that is why Solo Pinoy Cartoonist Memorablia takes timeless Kenkoy comic strips and mixes it up on trendy silhouettes and fabrics with different treatments such as foil printing, embroidery, embossed printing, flocking, high density printing and washed effect.   The collection consists of His&Hers graphic tees, polo shirts, woven tops and dresses, men’s long sleeves, shorts and accessories such as stainless necklaces and slingbags, gift sets like watches, vanity sets and lighters and will hit Solo stores in September.  Each Memoriabilia Series item will have its own bio-tag of Tony Velasquez as well as its own unique packaging.
